This is the pattern I used when crafting our Wooden Autumn Forest. It’s always fun using different materials to make the same pattern. I made this Autumn Oak Block Applique in golds, but it could be done in oranges, reds and browns. I designed it to fit our 6″ x 6″ applique blocks but you can enlarge or reduce the pattern to meet your needs. How will you use it? NOTE: On the pattern, the stitches used in the leaves are labeled as “detached lazy daisy” and in the glossary, the stitch is shown as “detached chain”. The lazy daisy stitch is a variation of a chain stitch, and the “detached lazy daisy” and the “detached chain” are simply a single chain stitch. So, if you need help with the stitch, check our glossary under “detached chain”.

I’ve been gone for a week and there has been so much crafty wonderfulness. And recipes. I’ll have to give some thought to a recipe. This is such a lovely little tree. I will be adding this to my stitching.

I think this is just lovely and I love the details you have added. On another topic, this is still hard but I thought I owed you an update. Do you remember I was making the calico flowers for my daughter’s wedding out of recycled clothing of her friends? They turned out awesome. Everything did. Except the groom. He backed out the day before the wedding. My daughter, classy woman that she is, went ahead with plans because everything was paid for. I thought it very lovely of her. She gave everyone that had shared a garment with her, the flower that I made. It was a bittersweet evening, and I’m afraid it will be the only wedding she will ever have, or not have. Not sure you would be interested, but you were so helpful that I thought I should tell you. The idea was brillant. Thanks again.
Oh, Sally, my heart and thoughts go out to your daughter and to you. How hard to must have been to see your daughter hurt. I will keep your family in my thoughts and prayers. And I do think it was extremely courageous of your daughter not to cancel the event. I’m glad she went through with it because I am sure she received a lot of love and support from her family and friends. It was thoughtful of your daughter to share the flowers you made. They will always hold memories for her friends, although bittersweet, of their lives and your daughter’s. Thank you for sharing with us. I’m sure it was difficult.
