Beehive Applique Block

Last week Tiptoe Mom requested an applique of a beehive, so tah dah, here it is. It is my plan to add at least 1 applique a week to the blog, hopefully building an impressive collection for many different crafters. If there is an applique you would like to see included... sooner rather than later... just leave us a comment or email us and we'll gladly give it a try.

In the meantime, here is our beehive with 3 very busy bees. Of course it would also be cute to add bumble bee buttons instead of the felt ones. And, you can always use woven fabric instead of the felt. If you do, add 1/4" around the outside of the design before cutting out the fabric. You will then be able to turn under the fabric before appliqueing it to your project.

This applique was designed for a 6" x 6" block but can be reduced or enlarged to meet your needs. The pattern is available here. Enjoy!

Note about patterns: We are sharing patterns we have designed and made for our own children, families and friends. Every effort is made to share information in a clear and accurate manner. We offer preemptive apologies for any mistakes that may be made. Please let us know via comments or emails if you stumble upon a mistake or if you encounter directions that leave your scratching your head! We will rectify the situation as soon as humanly possible!

Thank you!

Your appliques are so cute! I am finishing the bee hive now, but have already used the owl and birthday cake (with 2 candles and a space for the third one!) on long sleeve plain tops (for the coming winter) for my almost 3-year old daughter! Today I bought a black top because she so wants one of your ghosts too!!
Thank you so much! I am sure there will be friends asking me where I bought these gorgeous tops!

We are so glad to hear you

We are so glad to hear you are using our appliques. We would love to see photos of your finished shirts :)

Beautiful

I now feed my son to sleep dreaming up appliques and wondering where to put them. If only my stitches could be so neat!

I must say all these

I must say all these materials give good ideas for writing academic art papers. Thanks.

Perfect!

Thank you so much. This is perfect! I can embroider but I can't draw to save my life. Everything I do looks a very bad Picaso! I will keep you posted on up and coming projects the kids are working on, if that's okay. Again, thanks. I love your blog!

Shelly

Thank you!

Yay! This is what I've been looking for! Thank you heaps! xx

Great!

I'll be checking your site to see how you use it! Always fun seeing how other people personalize our designs!

Love it!

Ooooh, this is so cute! I love it! If you were making felt play food, wouldn't this be cute embroidered on a little pretend bottle of honey?

Funny you should mention...

felt play food! With Easter around the corner, next week I'm doing an ode to the egg! I have instructions for an egg applique, some felted eggs and felt play food fried eggs and bacons. I have many other play foods that I'll be adding and I love your idea of a honey jar with the beehive on it. Thanks!
