Postcards from Vermont 2011

My mom shared some pictures of her latest trip to visit the Little Lady so I needed to share some of ours. We went in the other direction. We just got back from our annual trip to Vermont (here are last year's pics). This is something we've been doing since I was 11 years old and it is so wonderful to share this experience with my children now. We have been going to the same place for so long, when we get there it feels like we've come home to this magical place where time seems to stand still. We love the boundless outdoor activities and are always on the go from dawn to dusk. We come back feeling both refreshed and exhausted. LOL.

Beautiful pictures! I am

Beautiful pictures! I am blessed to live in northwestern Vermont, right along Lake Champlain. I couldn't imagine living anywhere else. What part of Vermont did you come to?

We obviously spend some time

We obviously spend some time around Lake Champlain. Beautiful - lucky you! We cross over into Vermont from Port Kent by taking the ferry across to Burlington. Such a cool town. We stay near Stowe... where we hike, bike, golf and eat a year's worth of Ben and Jerry's in a week. ;)

Vermont

Wonderful photos of your trip. We usually took our kids to NH or Maine, but love going north in the summer. Too hot in RI these days;)

We started taking the kids

We started taking the kids to the resort in Vermont when my youngest was 4. It is so nice to see them continuing the tradition with their children. I know that some of their fondest memories are of summers in Vermont. As far as hot... yikes! I think there are probably 2 states in the country that aren't sweltering!

Hot, hot, hot

No worries, Debbie, it's hot in Maine too! 92 today. Thankfully the kids are at camp, swimming in the lake.

Day camp or overnight? In

Day camp or overnight? In Maine, or have they made their way to New Hampshire?

camp

The boys are at a 2-week long YMCA day camp here in town on one of the local lakes. Swim lessons, rock wall, ropes course, archery, arts/crafts, outdoor eduction, etc. They do another 2 weeks in August. They are having a great time. Overnight camp in NH starts next year for the almost 9yo! He is over-the-moon excited to go! It made a huge difference when we visited the camp last year for a tour from his cousin. Since then, he talks about it all the time.

Glad you had a great time!

What a perfect time of year to visit Vermont!
