When it comes to children, we live in an area of boundless opportunities. Our town is in a suburban/rural area about equidistance from Detroit, Flint, Ann Arbor and Lansing (each city providing opportunities), yet we are surrounded by farms, state parks and large universities. Not to mention that fact that Michigan touches 4 of the 5 Great Lakes, we are seldom at a loss for joyous outings! There is also a virtual cornucopia of local farms that have “pick your own” throughout the season, and our summers are entwined with the seasonal produce. Although picking strawberries isn’t easy work, it is always a day worth remembering, and when the berries are turned into jams, it’s something we continue to enjoy throughout the year. Join us for the day at one of our favorite farms 🙂

I am so jealous of you guys. I don’t garden and we don’t have any pick your own in our area. Fortunately, we have a decent farmer’s market that we can go to on Wednesdays, so through the summer we get our produce there. Would love to have all the options you do!!!!!!!
Your wee ones are getting so big! I remember these fun filled day In Michigan. I am from flint and really miss a lot of the places you blog about. I am hoping to make it home in the fall, my favorite time of year there. Enjoy your yummy strawberries 🙂
I am constantly hopping around our blog to look up one thing or another. It is a constant reminder of how the wee ones have grown. When I was raising my children, I found myself saying, if I could freeze time, THIS is the time I would want to live in forever. Every single stage my children went through, and now my grandbabies, seemed like the BEST time 🙂 Life is good!
Fall is my favorite time, too. Supposedly, Michigan has lost 85% of its fruit crops. I'm hoping that all of our favorite places can survive. It has been devastating. But having said that, Michigan in autumn is spectacular, and I'm sure she'll welcome you home with open arms 🙂
