These colorful, fabric Cinnamon Stick Christmas Tree Ornaments are easy to make and add a lovely bit of holiday scent to your decor. This is a great ornament craft to share with kids, as my girls were able to make them on their own after I showed them how. Younger children can help you stuff your tree ornaments.

Directions for Making Your Ornament:

Cut out two pieces of colorful fabric using the tree pattern. You can use Christmas themed fabric or any bright fabrics. Cut out a matching piece of ribbon about 5″ long to making a hanging loop.

Lay the fabric tree pieces right sides together. Fold the ribbon in half and insert it in between the two layers of fabric at the top of the tree. The fold side should go inside the tree and the ends of the ribbon should stick out a bit over the edge of the fabric.

Use a blunt pencil or knitting needle to poke out the corners of your tree. Be careful not to poke through the fabric.

Stuff your tree ornament with batting until it is almost full.

Insert a cinnamon stick into the base of your Christmas tree ornament. If you would like a stronger scent, add a drop of cinnamon essential oil to the batting.

If needed, add a bit more batting to fill the tree.

Hand sew the tree opening closed around the cinnamon stick. It is ok if you you can slide the cinnamon stick around a bit, as long as it is tight enough not to just fall out. If you would like you can glue it in place, or you can leave it somewhat loose allowing you the option to change out your cinnamon stick each year for a fresh scent.
