I Wish I Was a Fish

I wish I was a fish,
Or at least I think I do,
I’d swim in streams and ponds,
Or in the ocean blue.

I’d dart among the coral,
In the deep and vast blue sea,
My friends would be the dolphins,
And the sea anemones.

I’d swim upstream with salmon,
Or be pushed along downstream,
By quickly flowing rapids,
Oh Heavens, what a dream!

Or in the lakes I’d frolic,
Where the lily pads do grow,
Then I’d leap into the air,
To nab a mosquito.

Oh, I wish I was a fish,
Under water oh so deep,
Until the night time came,
Then home I’d go to sleep!
