If you can believe it, I’m still sick. I’ve been watching this flu/cold change directions so many times I’m dizzy. Seems this week I’ve settled in to a nice case of laryngitis! Can’t complain, though, I am feeling lots better than I did last week at this time! Having said all that, it has put me behind on many of my normal routines, including preparing the Gnome Home for the Spring. So, over the next few days, I will be helping Britta do a bit of Spring Cleaning, and decking the house for the coming months.
I was thinking that it was time to introduce some new flowers into our decorating. Today, I was playing around and happened upon some poppies. Actually, they turned out so pretty I can’t wait to incorporate them into the Gnome Home. Here is a peak at the poppies. I’ll have directions up before the end of the week! Maybe if I start thinking Spring, it will start warming up around here and my cold will finally go away! In the meantime, Brrr!

I LOVE poppies. Poppies and hollyhocks are my favorite flowers in my garden. I just wish their blooms would last longer! Your felt flowers are a wonderful facsimile. Can’t wait to make some!
The poppies look great! It’s still cold here too, (I guess I shouldn’t be surprised since I live in Canada, lol) so I’ve also been thinking about crafting spring things hoping to bring on the warmer weather. Hope you feel better soon 🙂

i rely heavily on your templates for your other “print friendly versions”, they are great.
In Australia, people wear these every Remembrance Day (Nov 11th) to remember the fallen soldiers of World War 1 (1914 – 1918). As so many died in the fields of poppies in France.

We celebrate Veterans’ Day in the states on November 11, also. It is a day to celebrate both fallen and surviving Veterans. The last Monday in May, we celebrate Memorial Day. It is a day to remember those men and women that died defending our country.
If anyone is interested in reading the poem In Flanders Fields, written in 1915 by John McCrae, which inspired the red poppies, it can be found HERE. There is also an interesting article there on the emergence of the poppy in the US.
And I will have the directions up before week’s end but the only template is the top of a mason jar! I’ll explain later 🙂

Thanks for the history (social studies???) lesson. I never knew why I bought those poppies. Probably should read the little card they sometimes give you. I’ll be totally knowledgeable this year and impress my friends, hehe! Love the poppies!

my daughter is quite fond of the poppy lately. not sure why she has fixated on it but it has come into her art a lot lately. she made an adorable poppy fairy for a peg doll swap recently. she is going to love your poppies! 😉
