Imagine entering a shop with handcrafted toys and other items, inspired by Waldorf schools, and created from natural materials by crafters and artists from all over the world. Our shops are online, but that shop exists as the Waldorf on Etsy team.

We are Waldorf parents, Waldorf teachers, homeschoolers, Waldorf alumni and we are inspired by the beautiful, natural toys that are the tradition in Waldorf schools. We come from the mountains of California, the farms of New England, towns in the Midwest, as well as Australia, Kenya, the British Isles, Chile, France . . . We have more than 250 members from across the globe.

Our individual shops offer a plethora of toys that will inspire a child’s imagination, as well as other Waldorf inspired art and items. We have sweet, huggable Waldorf dolls in every style imaginable and huggable creatures as well. Our shops include lovely items for the nature table, like needle-felted animals, fairies and gnomes. Spend hours storytelling with finger puppets, peg dolls and fairy tale dolls. Our favorite materials are wool, wood, silk and cotton.

Some of our shops include wearables like crafting aprons, birthday crowns, and flower hairclips and headbands. We have soft and natural playthings for babies and Waldorf fairies and toys that teach children about nature, the seasons, the weather and the world.

We are like so many parents who take a natural approach to parenting; most of us started out by making toys for our own children. Please take some time to explore our individual shops and see how Waldorf has inspired and united us.

  1. I love handmade items. It gives me a feeling of closeness to the creator as they have put their heart and soul into what they make. This is really evident in the felted animals created by ClaudiaMariaFelt. Love it.

  2. I prefer using handmade items as they are generally better made and always have that feel. You know the one, it’s the love that’s put in the creation by the maker. The time taken, the thought given and the joy  both given and received.

I also like that handmade are more often made with natural fabrics which are just generally better. I love shopping for handmade items as there are so many talented people out there and I am in awe of the amazing creations made.

Thanks to all the shops for joining in and letting us browse your wares.

  3. So happy to have found this blog! Makers and crafters see the world through different eyes and their views of the world are calming and so very inspiring!

  4. As an energy healer I know that when I put my hands to my work I am pouring good intentions into the receiver.  To own something handmade is to be gifted with the good intentions of the artist and that is the kind of awareness I want my son to have about the beauty we surround our life with.  Thank you!

  5. I love handmade items, as they are made with love from the heart. No two items are alike, so they are very unique. Handmade items are the greatest.

  6. Outside of supporting people over companies, having homemade toys teaches my children that our hands are tools to create. They learn to respect and honor talent and materials.

    1. That is a beautifully stated thought.  And inspiring, too. I have never been very handy but my child is. This reminds me to stay as connected as possible.

  7. Hand made is created with love to create love –

  8. Homemade items have heart and touch the soul.

  9. Handmade items often have special little touches that wouldn’t be done by a machine and each one is unique. Often, just by looking at them, you can see the care put into each one. I also like knowing that the item had someone putting a bit of themselves into it. That makes them more special.

  10. I would love to receive one of these packs for my beautiful children to enjoy,  a handcrafter myself I appreciate all of the love and care that goes into the objects of beauty <3 Thank you for doing such a beautiful giveaway xx

  11. We have always enjoyed handmade items. I come from a long line of crafters and have really enjoyed creating toys or clothes for my boys to use. The quality of handmade items is usually much nicer than machine made and I like to support local artisans. Thank you for this wonderful opportunity.

  12. I love handmade, because, living in nyc, i essentially have to bath in consumerism and marketing 24/7. having beautiful handmade items in my house gives me a release from the hustlt and bustle that city life can be. thanks so much!

  13. Adorable, would make a wonderful gift for my grandchildren.

  14. the warmth of each item brings wonder and a soul fullness to the child that receives it allowing them to take their imagination anywhere it will wander

  15. I love Waldorf style crafts, they give me the warm fuzzies – as I like to call it!  Much love and care goes into each and every piece, and it shows.

  16. The first time I heard about Waldorf School’s was at Castle of Costa Mesa, and I was looking for chinese bopomofo stuff. There I met Jzin and all the characters she created at the moment, and I fell in love.

Afterwards following her advise, I went to the page of Claudia Marie and I knew the adorable animals created by her, they look so real!!!!

It’s amazing how you all work the materials and make them live.

I wish I could have your skills πŸ™‚

I also would like to know if these Waldorf Schools are also here in Central America.

Could you provide me some information?

Thank you, and I am your fan-

  17. I remember the first toy I ever got as a child. It was a wooden truck my grandfather had made. There is something about natural materials. They have so much warmth and character. My grandfather passed many years ago but my fondest memories of him are when we would play with that wooden toy car. Handmade toys became lasting memories or heirlooms that we pass down to the next generation. It is a joy to see that the love of making handmade toys is still alive today.

  18. Handmade is so very special for so many reasons.  It helps a family get a little extra money they might need, gives a mama ( or papa) much needed time for themselves, and to me the love and care put into each creation make them the most special.  I know great care is taken when each crafter uses their hands to create fir other families.  It is truly magical.

  19. I commented but cant find it! I am in love with your figurines, i can see a family of them living on my dresser πŸ™‚ I especially like the mermaid, woods fairy, the pregnant fairy, mother & child, the cute little bunnies, the baby fairies & i couldnt go past the pumpkins either <3

  20. I just love the weather gnomes from Of Wool and Wood! everything is so detailed and very unique. I love that all the artists use natural fabrics such as wool and felt . It’s inspiring! My daughter is into fairies and I am sure she would play hours with those little peg dolls.

  21. Homemade items give off good vibes from the seller to the receiver. I really like Fairy Shadow’s star dolls. They are so cute and portable.

  22. I love how every piece has a story. And when I bring these special pieces into my classroom the children then learn about their special story. It is through this they begin to appreciate their uniqueness, their value and their worth and then the children are able to share and pass along their story to others they love and cherish .

  23. I have loved handmade toys since the day my daughter asked, “Who made me this?” That awareness that she has is so important to me. I love being able to answer her question. I’d say it’s one of the most important parenting choices I’ve made.

    Thank you!

  24. I love to use natural items when I create art of all kinds. Most of my wee folk wear acorn caps, & all have wool roving for hair. I’ve used sea shells for troll’s teeth that I formed from Fimo clay. Seed pods, twigs, vine tendrils,& moss, always find there way into each of my miniature gnome homes. Rocks form the base for many of my twisted gem trees. I Love using natural things because you can’t beat the beauty of God’s perfection.  ~Sonya

[/quote]  Hand made items are the best. They show all the love you put into them.

  25. I enjoy buying handmade items because they are more meaningful than factory produced. The quality is better, they are all unique in some way, and someone had to take the time to make them. I am trying to learn some of these skills myself so that one day I can make handmade items for my children.

  26. So many reasons to love handmade… With toys, I like that it is evident that human love and care went into creating the piece. For little imaginations, I think these imperfect, not-identical toys seem so much more “real” than mass produced, uniform toys.

  27. Amazing giveaway!  i love handmade toys because of all the love and energy put into them. i made handmade toys too, so i know first hand the amount of time that goes into all the details.  Handmade toys have a sort of magic that store bought toys lack.  They truly are wonderful! thanks for the chance!

  28. Nothing can compare to a handmade item made lovingly from natural materials.  These little treasures will be greatly loved!

  29. Handmade items are so much more heartfelt. An artist puts themselves into these creations and that makes them special. Love them!!!

  30. I’m always amazed at the beauty and detail of handmade items.  The amount of work is incredible!

  31. In addition to the love and the artistry, handmade items are imperfect. I want my kids to know and appreciate the flaws in their surroundings.

  32. Handmade is heart made. It fosters a sense of community, even if the makers and users don’t know each other.

  33. Handmade items are made with love and are treasures to me. It means so much to receive a handmade gift because the maker used their creativity and time and imbued it with love.

  34. I find that these handmade treasures are gentle and delicate and evoke the same from our children and ourselves.  I find the craftsmanship inspiring!  And one senses the time and care invested in each piece made.

  35. Home made, natural creations that will appeal to the senses of little, and not so little people.

Play experiences with my grandchildren, especially outside, are enhanced by the warm feel and smell of wood and wool.

  36. Each shop speaks to me in it’s own way because of my love for both “woodland” theme decorations and toys, but also the loving handmade craftsmanship. I’m a knitter and crafter myself, and appreciate the soul one puts into their creations, as I’m sure many others can as well!

  37. When I make a homemade item I know I put love and time into an object.  When I receive a homemade item I feel the love and time put into the object.  All the etsy shows were lovely to vist!

  38. I appreciate the labor of love that goes into handcrafted items … the creative expression that evolves from natural materials combined with human imagination and craftsmanship.  Thank you for a peek into these eight sites of creativity, and for this opportunity to win one of your delightful gifts!

  39. “I love Waldorf toys because they are prettier. Because they are like nature – made from nature and nature is more beautiful than anything you can find inside. And I just like to make stuff-more than I like to buy stuff at the store. Maybe other people will like to make Waldorf toys if they know how much kids like them and they won’t think they need to buy toys from the store. That would be cool.” – Vada Schwandt 6.5 years lost in thought over why she adores anything handmade from natural materials. The difference is obvious to her.

  40. I love the simplicity of Waldorf inspired crafts and dolls. The creativity it takes to make things from a few simple, natural ingredients. The inspiration of each artist to add their own special stamp.

  41. We love using natural handmade items in our home for so many reasons, they won’t all fit in one comment :). Some bring back childhood memories, some teach our child to use imaginative play,  some are beautiful to look at, the list goes on. Thanks to all the artists for sharing your wonderful creations!

  47. I visited all of the artists’ sites, meandered through their lovely creations, and had my heart strings tugged by much of what I saw. Due to limited funds when my eldest son was born, over 40 years ago, I became quite skilled at designing toys from little things we would come

  48. I feel warm just looking at these beautiful creations.

  49. I’m loving the Waldorf team on ETSY…  you guys are fantastic, making such adorable creations.!  Love to you from the deadhead art alliance and the ETSY TEAMS FELLOWSHIP SOCIETY!   oxo, Jen   PACIFICNWGLASS on ETSY

  51. I couldn’t help but favorite all these shops so that I can come back to them when I do my holiday shopping. I have been a hand-crafter all my life, and these items are something that I would love to give my three year old grandson. You can’t do better than handmade gifts, and I am a person with great appreciation of the hard work and love that all of these women have put into their designs. My hardest chore will be deciding what to purchase from all the shops, because I want pretty much one of everything. So happy to have found the links to these beautiful works of art. So glad that you did this promotion!

  52. Homemade goods are made with love and care.  You can feel it when you receive them, when the children play with them.  That’s why we LOVE using homemade products.  <3

  53. Oh, I have such envy at the talent of these ladies.  I try, but mine never look like theirs.

I love Bridgitsbell for her use of color and special details on each one.  Her small standing angels are on my wish list.

  61. I love having, using and making homemade items. The joy it brings my kids faces, even if its something as simple as a spoon or a crocheted robe they use for belts, pull alogn ties, it dosen’t matter. 76. Oh, there are heaps of reasons I love handmade but I’ll choose the most important. I want my children to play with things that were made with love. They weren’t manufactured in some factory by someone who’s underpaid and not happy with their jobs..instead they’re made with love; love for the craft, for the natural materials, for joy they are going to bring the littles who are gifted these beautiful items. My babes may not have a ton of toys, but they have very well loved, beautiful things that are cherished!

  77. Thanks so much for this competition! I love all the little needle and wet felted things which is what got me to Wee Folks page and then to the competition and then even better on to other sites looking up things for this competition. All of the things from little gnomes to needle felted animals to even big people gnome hats and shawls and beautiful stuff. The internet is sometimes too big to find anything but this competition has helped me find lots of natural clever and cute new things. thanks!  OH and how cute is that little hedgehog? OMG!

  78. I particularly appreciate those who use locally sourced supplies!

  79. I love natural toys because of the warmth they give off. When my children are playing with wood, wool, or other natural materials, there is a calming softness that can be felt and seen. Plastics seem so cold and noisy. Handmade items also carry the time and love of their creator, which lasts for generations.

  80. I love buying homemade because I know that thought and care has gone into the item, and I like to have the opportunity to support a small family business.

  81. Could these dolls be any sweeter?!!  They are wonderful.  Would absolutely love to win!

  82. One of the most important reasons to use all natural materials for toys is, that if you do you don’t have to worry about your children playing with it. They get the chance to experience different types of materials without any parent intervinience! And that is good for all of us πŸ™‚

  83. I love all the natural materials mostly because it is better for the environment.  But also, it’s better for our health, and wellbeing generally to use and be able to touch and feel the materials of the earth.   You can’t beat the beauty of nature, especially when it’s in the hands of these amazing artists.  My children learn so much more from these than mass market plastic toys, and I’d rather pay these talented people than some giant chain store.

  84. Just beautiful and obviously created by wonderful craftspeople. A lovely opportunity!

  85. I love handmade items because of the thought and care that is put into each piece!

  86. I loved everything in the shops. I am so excited to have found all of you.

I LOVE handmade items because they are made from the heart. It brings a sense of peace when my daughter plays with her handmade toys. I try to only use handmade items in my house.

THANK YOU for this WONDERFUL giveaway. Everything is GORGEOUS..

    BIG HUGS to You….

  87. I clicked all of the links and really enjoyed to browse through all of these beautiful handmade items. I am very crafty. I love to work with quite every material (fabric, yarn, wood, felt…). And because I craft myself, I know how much heart blood goes onto every single handmade item. I very appreciate hanade items because of the love it was made with. And for sure handmade items are often made better (and with better materials) than non-handmade stuff. We all know about horrible test results, know about how toxic and unsafe so many items for our children (and ourselves) are… I love the thought, too, that someone here has written: Handmade items teach our children to appreciate materials and talent. I agree. <3

  88. There is something magical about the handmade item. Perhaps there is a little bit of the soul of the maker in each item. Very generous giveaway

  89. Handmade contains Life and soul, and brings joy and wonder

  90. I love having handmade items in our home. My passion is knitting with natural fibers, but as we prepare to welcome our first daughter in the next few weeks, I am starting to research all sorts of natural and handmade play items!

  91. I love handmade anything – it takes skill, time and likely patience to create something beautiful and is then a piece to be appreciated and looked after
