How to Cut Out Felt

I threw together a tutorial on How To Cut Out Felt. That may sound a little silly, but the difference between a quality felt piece is as much about neat cutting as it is neat stitching. Fair warning... this was not on my plate for today, so I did rush through this a bit. Let me know if you encounter any problems. Also, I seldom look at other people's techniques... it's the explorer in me that wants to make my own discoveries! There may be many other techniques out there that work as well or perhaps better. This is just the way I do it. Hope it proves helpful. The directions for How To Cut Out Felt can be found HERE or with our FREE Patterns.

I recently started sewing with felt. I was getting so frustrated because no matter what I did my finished pieces just didn't look good. I just found your blog yesterday. Today I went out and bought some Fiskar Scissors and packing tape. I followed your direction and Yipee Skipee! Finally, I am satisfied! Thank you so much. This is the best tip I have ever been given. And it's so simple to use. I love your blog. It's obvious you spend a lot of time. You must be a very loving person. Thanks again. I am sooo pleased.

What a great tute, I love these tips. I'll be linking.

Thanks for this tutorial - and for all the awesome free patterns you provide. I'm slowly getting into felting and this is a huge help - thank you!

Hi,
This is such a helpful tutorial. I have been a silent admirer of your blog, and have always wondered how you cut the felt so neatly.

hello, i just wanted to let you know that the how to cut felt link and the kitty cat doorstop links in free open patterns, are linked and you cannot get into the kitty cat doorstop (which is what i was trying to do).

thanks,
ani

Thanks for the head's up. It should be fixed now. BTW... we have a search button found in the lower left corner... it can be useful when little glitches like that occur.
