I love going on walk-abouts with children. EVERYTHING is so fascinating to them. Bugs and rocks, fungus and tracks captivate their imagination and provide fodder for an insurmountable barrage of questions. And I’ve yet to go on a nature walk with a child who has not found some priceless treasure. Sparkly rocks, a cardinal feather, and a miniature pinecone are too precious to leave behind. While walking with the grandbabies yesterday, I noticed Fairy had picked up the front of her dress and was using it as a makeshift sack. Although clever, every time she needed two hands to do something, her treasures tumbled to the ground. They need bigger pockets!
