Here’s Pixie in her new skirt and shirt. She loves them! And what’s not to love? A nice comfy skirt and a t-shirt with a totally goofy bird. Can it get much better? Directions for this most basic skirt can be found in our FREE Pattern Section. I used a very old and not very sticky Wonder Under to iron the applique to a store bought t-shirt. I am going to turn the bird into a 6 inch block. You can then decide if you would like to make it out of felt or woven fabric like Pixie is wearing. The Elastic Gathered Skirt took me about an hour to make. Pretty cool, right? You could be turning out a ton of these puppies for great summer frolics. Enjoy!
Awwww, she looks so adorable in the outfit you made. Well done, wel done!
Absolutely adorable. The skirt is cute too 😉 I’ve been dying to make a couple of these. Thanks for the inspiration.
I love your little outfit there. I didn’t know The proper name for french seams. I often wished I could have taken Home Ec in high school. I had a 4-H sewing club that taught me much of the skills I have for sewing. I hear the internal voice of my 4-h teacher alot when it comes to being tempted to short cut a project. I think taking college classes in Home Ec would have been great. I was in the engineering chemistry classes very unhappy during those days. My Mom was a domestic goddess in the 70’s and taught me alot. Love your inspiration
This is so adorable. Homemade clothes are the best, aren’t they? You can’t get cuter than this!
LOVE this outfit. I made a skirt for my daughter yesterday and it fits perfect. The material is kind of plain and I’d love to make the wild bird for a t-shirt to jazz it up. Are you still planning on posting a pattern for the applique or do I need to try to copy it myself? I’m not very good at that kind of thing, I would much rather have yours. No pressue 😉
Glad the skirt worked out for you! And, yes, I will get an applique pattern up sometime in the next couple of days, although I have faith that you could have looked at the close up and done one yourself or something close. I’m not sure you could make this zany little bird wrong… he’s a bit of a mess!
