DIRECTIONS FOR THE FOLK ART CAT APPLIQUE
Refer to pattern and photo for applique placements, cutting instructions and embroidery stitches.
Cut out felt using the photo and pattern. Transfer any embroidery markings.
Stitch cat to block using a running stitch with 2 strands of floss.
Using a running stitch with 2 strands of floss, sew on stripes and chest.
Sew on eyes using a running stitch and 2 strands of floss.
Add the center of the eyes using a French knot with 6 strands of floss.
Add nose using a running stitch with 2 strands of floss.
Sew on whiskers with a back stitch using 2 strands of floss.
Add mouth using a back stitch with 6 strands of floss. NOTE: The pattern shows a different mouth. If you would prefer to do that one use a stem stitch with 6 strands of floss.
Add lines to stripes and chest using a straight stitch with 6 strands of floss.
Using a stem stitch with 6 strands of floss, add the swirls.
Add French knots to the body with 6 strands of floss.
