Give-Aways

Winter Wonderland Books Give Away!

EDIT: The Giveaway is now closed. The winner will be announced soon. Check back soon for the winner. Good luck one and all 🙂

Here is an email we got a couple days ago from one of our readers:

Hello,
I have been following your home school curriculum and have bought the books for them from an online store that sells used books. Well I had bought several books (I can Let you know which ones) and they got lost in the mail. The store very kindly replaced them but a couple of days ago (and about 6 weeks late) a very batter box showed up with the original books still in fine shape. I contacted the company and they said there was no need to send them back and if I don’t have any use for them I should donate them. If you would like to give them away on your blog I can send them to you (or directly to the winner). I understand if you are not interested I just thought I would ask.

Thank you for everything!
~Sarah

My response was basically OMG… how awesome! Yes, we’d love to help you donate your books to one of our readers! So, she sent the list…

How Do you know it’s winter?
Hibernation
Animals in Winter
Gregory’s Shadow
what Makes a shadow?
The mitten
under the snow
Grady the goose
What is Migration?
Valentine Bears
Grizzly bear family book
Snow Dogs! Racers of the north
Owl Moon
Where are the night animals?
St.Patrick’s day in the Morning.

She wanted to make sure that everyone was aware that the books are used but they are still in great shape. She bought them from betterworldbooks.com

So there you have it. Sarah is donating 15 books to one lucky WFA reader. Even if you are not doing the Winter Wonderland Unit, how cool would it be to receive ALL these books, and all the better that the have been previously loved 🙂

For your chance to win, simply leave a comment here telling us who you would be sharing the books with.

A winner will be drawn at random on Monday, January 17 at 9:00 p.m. EST. Then Sarah will have the books off to you “toot sweet”!

BTW… Sarah is sharing these books out of the goodness of her heart. She is also paying the shipping for the books to be sent to the winner. She never mentioned it, but I happen to know Sarah is the owner of the Etsy shop Nothing But Soap. I buy soap from her for myself and for gift giving. As a way of saying Thank You to her for her generosity, do yourself a favor and pay her shop a visit!

Thank you Sarah, and good luck to everyone!

I am an avid follower of your site and am a lead teacher in a 2’s & 3’s preschool classroom. I know that I could create many cross-curricular learning opportunities for them to enjoy. My two kids would also benefit from new books.
    What a super generous lady!

What a sweet thing to do!

My kids and I are following your winter curriculum so I would share the books with them. Our library is tiny and doesn’t have most of the books on your list, so I’m trying to improvise with what I have already and can find there.

  • Janelle

Thank you for this opportunity! I would share the books with my 2 boys and our small homeschool group of 8. We are using the Winter Wonderland curriculum.

  • Jackie

What a nice “pay it forward” kind of story! My family and I read through the books on your fall list (especially loved “Rusty, Trusty Tractor”). We would love to add to our winter library. These books would be loved by my kindergartener who is a new reader and my second grade class. Oh, and loved the etsy shop…thanks for the heads up on that!

  • Anissa

I have two wee ones who LOVE to read! We would give these books a good lovin’ and pass them on to other precious wee book lovers 🙂

  • Marlo

Oh wow, this would be amazing. I have done most of the Harvest curriculum with my daughters and we are just beginning the Winter one. This would be a great blessing. And maybe I would pass a few on to a friend who is just beginning the journey of delightful book swith her son. I’ll have to check out the soap; I have been thinking about soap for days!

  • Tanya

Wow…what a generous giveaway! I am using the Winter Wonderland curriculum with my 2 and 5 year olds and we are *loving* it. We currently use the library as our main source for books but would love to own copies of them so we can enjoy them again and again. Thank you Sarah for being so generous :o)

How much my grand-daughter Mei-Ling would love these books. She has heterotaxy polyspleenia and has a vesicostomy, her conditions keep her limited energy wise and she is a real book-aholic as we call her. She is 3 and loves being read to. My daughter and her husband are on a very limited income plus, Mei-Lings surgeries, all 8 of them, has mounted up a lot of bills for them so money for books is not abundant.
If you go to my blog http://morningramble.blogspot.com/ and do a search for Mei-Ling surgeries or prayer for Mei-Ling you will see some of what she has been through. We help in as many ways as we can. Imagination is a powerful tool when you have so many painful events in your life and good books open a whole new world to children and sometimes, Mei-Ling just needs an escape from all that is happening and there are several more surgeries to come.

My sister in law and I would love for our kids to go to a Waldorf school, but unfortunately the nearest one is about a 45 minute drive from where we live. To compensate, we’ve been trading books and blogs to help supplement our kids’ lives with nurturing activities and fairy tales. These books would be a great addition to our library, and the other mothers in our play group would find them very useful as well!

  • Dulcie Belanger

We are using this curriculum with my preschool. Some of the books I have been able to borrow from the library but it would be wonderful to have our own for the future classes. Thanks for sharing!

  • Robyn

I have four girls. I know they would all be excited to find a box full of books on the front porch. My two youngest (6 and 3)have beat up our copy of The Mitten, we could totally use a new one.

I would be sharing the books with my 4 and 2 year old daughters. We’re following the Winter Wonderland curriculum for homeschool with my 4 year old 🙂

  • Sarah

Wow! My 4- and 7-year-old children just love all the great stuff we do with your curricula. I am quite certain they would adore a whole box of books that are just theirs. They’re always sad to take these books back to the library so someone else can have a turn. What a generous and thoughtful thing to do!

  • Asiyah

I would love to win those books. Although I don’t homeschool, we are voracious readers and these would be a nice addition to our library. Thanks for the opportunity to win!

Now…off to visit Nothing But Soap!

Thank you Sarah! I run a small Nature Daycare.. 6 little ones each day under 4.. needless to say our books get used and “loved” very much…the children would be most appreciative if they were surprised with something new! OUr program is very much geared toward the seasons so a collecton of winter books would be perfect!

Wow what a generous gift for some lucky family! This is an amazing list of books. My husband and I would be sharing them with our toddler son and our soon-to-be-born baby. I was born in the middle of a blizzard, and have always loved winter and snow and ice and cold weather. I hope to pass this love along to my children. Thank you Sarah for sharing such joy!
