If you want to get into a heated discussion with a group of people, forget talking about politics or religion… talk about fairy tales. Parents either love them and expose their children to them, or parents find them too violent or sexist and banish them. Some parents want to preserve the tales as originally penned, while others want them Disneyfied. However you feel, most of us have a favorite. For me it is Beauty and the Beast. Beauty is my favorite heroine… brave, kind and loyal… a role model I gladly share with children. (BTW… the hardcover edition pictured here is out of print, with new books selling for $950.00… ouch! I’m glad I have it in my library already because it is a remarkably beautiful edition!) Anyway… what is your favorite fairytale and do you have a favorite version?
