Pixie's Party Purse

One of the very first patterns we shared with our readers over a year ago was our Treasure Pouch. It was meant to be a spare pocket for the wee ones when they went on walk-abouts. It was made out of felt and flannel. They still use them constantly, but since that time I've kept looking at them thinking... "Hey, with the right fabric, we could really dress up that pouch". Well... for Pixie's birthday, I made the annual party dress and decided she needed a Party Purse. So, I grabbed the Treasure Pouch pattern as a starting point, and tweaked a little here, added and little there, and wah lah... our newfangled Party Purse! Directions for Pixie's Party Purse can be found HERE or in our FREE Open Patterns. Enjoy!

Such pretty colors for a pretty party dress and purse!! I think next year will be the year for me to start doing little purses for my oldest! Or, why wait? Maybe for the next little girl bday we have, I 'll whip up one of these and put little "presents" in it? How fun!
And OF COURSE, cupcakes are SO much more better than a cake...and much easier on us moms! Hope the party was all that she hoped for...happy birthday Pixie!! :)
I love the idea of making this as a bd gift and putting little treasures in it! There are so many things that a little girl could use when she's out and about! Oh... little matching barrettes, too! Thanks for sharing a great idea!

I never thought to make a matching purse/dress for my daughters birthday party. It really is a great idea, because she can look back at that purse and remember the occasion. Also, these look very simple to make and could be dressed up with some sequins or feathers to fit your daughters individual taste. Lastly, I have memories of my mother making my dolls dresses for christmas to match mine. That could be an idea too.
I wish I had your extraordinary sewing talent. Alas I don't. I wouldn't attempt the dress but I know I can make the purse. I see these as a couple more Christmas gifts. Hope your little one has (had) a great party.
So pretty!! I'm sure the birthday girl will love it!
I posted a link to your pattern on Craft Gossip Sewing:

Will the wee one's birthday be very soon? Happy happy birthday in advace to Pixie!
Love the dress and the matching purse! So pretty, so Pixie!
Her actually birthday was yesterday, but the party is tonight! She wants pizza for dinner and pink cupcakes with sprinkles instead of a cake. Her mama is busy getting all ready! I will pass along your wishes for a "Happy Birthday" :)
