Song of a Scarf

This is the wool
All fluffy and warm
Sheared, cleaned and carded
Awaiting its next form.

This is the spindle
I got as a gift
Simple and timeless
I was spinning in a jiff.

This is the skein
The first off the stick
Twisted, soft and natural
Adding color the next trick.

These are the colors
Full of bright hues
Made from drink mixes
And easy to use.

This is the yarn
Drying in the breeze
While I searched for a pattern
A gift sure to please.

These are the needles
To which I cast the yarn on
Big fat elevens
A scarf fast and fun.

Cast on seventeen stitches
Knit the first front and back
Knit fourteen more then two together
To keep your stitch count on track.
Knit the next row
All the way to the end
Turn and repeat these two rows
Until all yarn is spent.

This is the song
Of a scarf made from scratch
From sheep to the wardrobe
Time to make mittens that match.

New at knitting. I want to
New at knitting. I want to know what like (KFB) means.
KFB = Knit into the Front
KFB = Knit into the Front and Back of the Stitch.
It is an increase stitch. You knit into the stitch as normal but don't remove it from your left needle. Slide your right needle back into the left loop on the back side of the needle. Knit it again and slide the left loop off. You should now have 2 stitches in place of one.
K2T = Knit 2 Stitches Together.
It is a decrease stitch. When you go to start the stitch, go into 2 loops on your left needle at the same time. Knit them as one. You will now have only one stitch in place of two.
Good luck!

Knit Picks
The needles (Harmony Wood) are from KnitPicks. I also have the interchangeable set and I LOVE them! They are so smooth to use and so pretty to look at.

Love this!! I grew up with sheep, carding, spinning, dyeing and watching my mom knit or weave it all into something. What a wonderful process to be a part of! Thanks for this :-).
