Our pool came down this weekend… along with many leaves. Early for both. In many ways I have thoroughly enjoyed our summer… temps well below the norm, which suits me fine. But I’m afraid this unseasonably cooler summer has wreaked havoc on our gardens. We have never had a less bountiful garden. I hope our regional farmers fared better than we …
Fall
At Wee Folk Art we delight in the change of seasons. We welcome the cool weather that autumns brings, enjoy mugs of spiced apple cider, and pots of steaming soup. Throughout the fall we find ourselves crafting more fervently and baking more frequently. Spend some time with us this fall crafting, baking, and enjoying the harvest. Knit our fall leaves scarf, bake some pumpkin muffins, craft a felt leaves garland with the kids, or sew a autumn tree banner. Enjoy our fall crafts collection!
Harvest Quilt
Last year while completing our Harvest Activities we made 10″ square batik quilt blocks each month with the intent to make a quilt showcasing the kids artwork. This project got buried in the craft cabinet during the holidays and never resurfaced. Recently, I’ve been working on another quilt project and all of the kids have …

Butterscotch Gingerbread Cookie Recipe :: Halloween Ghosts
Today we are sharing our family’s favorite Butterscotch Gingerbread Cookie Recipe. Although it is pictured here as ghosts, it makes a wonderful traditional Gingerbread man cookie at Christmas. This year is our family’s 18th Annual Pumpkin Carving Party. Although there are lots of things to do at the last minute, I’ve developed a working list …
Wax Paper Stained Glass Window Leaves
Follow along learn how to make wax paper stained glass window decorations. We are using this method to make leaves, highlighting the colors of fall. This is a pretty standard melted crayon/wax paper stained glass project. This was the first time I’ve done this project with the kids so they thought it was pretty cool. …
Salt Dough Pumpkins
A few weeks ago Michelle made salt dough veggies with her children. They have a knit play mat that she made (and must share with everyone soon) and they wanted veggies to plant in their garden. We made corn and lettuce, celery and carrots, but we were all most delighted with the pumpkins. Below is …
Hanging Fabric Ghosts Halloween Decorations
For fun Halloween decorations, make these Hanging Fabric Ghosts to haunt your home. We created these Hanging Fabric Ghosts to go along with this week’s Unplugged Challenge theme: white. I’m sure I’m not the only one who took the theme white and combined it with upcoming Halloween and thought… hmmm ghosts. We did a stiff …
Autumn Leaf Banner and Brooch
While the gnomes were off on their long awaited visit to their city cousins, the small woodland animals and the Autumn Fairies were hard at work, decking out the gnomes’ house for the Harvest Festival, complete with a charming Autumn Leaf Banner. You can imagine the gnome’s surprise and delight when they returned, weary …
Cider Press
This week’s Unplugged Challenge theme was fruit. We have been doing so many things with apples over the past few weeks (you can scroll through my past blog postings to see more of our apple activities) it was hard to choose the one thing I wanted to label as our Unplugged activity. I decided to …
Gnome Home Fall Banner and Brooch
This banner was designed to fit a branch in our Gnome Home. You may wish to customize the banner to fit a preexisting branch in your Gnome Home or add an angled twig to hang the banner as is. As always, I use my applique patterns for different things. I took the Fall Banner, reduced …
Apple Prints
We spent the morning at Gammy’s yesterday and took advantage of her seemingly endless supply of art materials (this time rummaging through her entire box of stamp pads). We made our apple prints to go along with our Harvest Time Week Four, Johnny Appleseed theme. This was a very easy craft! All we did was …
