I don’t know exactly what made me think about this the other day, but when Tim and I were talking and it occurred to me that I couldn’t remember the last time I’d seen a “Just Married” sign on the back of a car or the ubiquitous Kleenex Carnations from our youth plastered all over …

Lily Pads and Water Lilies
Three selfish frogs learn a valuable lesson about sharing from a toad and a very scary thunderstorm in Leo Lionni’s It’s Mine. I created the pattern for the Water Lily and the Lily Pads to extend the story but you can certainly use these for decorating or adding to a nature table. I made 3 …
New Play Silks
Recently I started replacing my old, dearly loved, but showing their age play silks with new ones. (I’m mulling some ideas around on how to repurpose them!) I wanted a way of storing the silks that was accessible to the wee ones but added to my home’s decor. (I am working on a blog “Hidden in Plain Site” …
Felt Lily Pads
It began as a desire to have a few props for some of Leo Lionni’s books. I especially wanted to focus on It’s Mine. I began by drawing a frog and toad to be cut from wood, which I shall be sharing as soon as I cut out my toad. I then decided the frogs needed lily …
Basic Knit Doll in 6 Sizes
These designs were created with beginner knitters in mind. They are knitted flat and are sewn together. For a more experienced knitter, I have created directions for knitting the dolls in the round, using double pointed needles, thus eliminating the seams. Also, directions are giving for adding a faceĀ and hair. Those expanded directions for a …

Edit: I would like to thank everyone for their lovely comments and emails. It is said, “A friend is a gift you give yourself”. When we invite a pet into our lives, we are giving ourselves the gift of friendship. My heart is heavy with our loss of this lovely lady, but oh, how she …
Nature Hike – Lots of Critters
We took advantage of a break in the rain clouds this weekend and went on a Nature Hike. Lots of critters greeted us along the way.
Butterfly Garden Field Trip
Our Homeschool Playgroup went on a field trip to the 4H Butterfly Gardens just after Easter. The presentation itself was a little below the group… there wasn’t a question the lady asked that at least half the group couldn’t answer. But everyone had a good time and enjoyed the warm sunny day in the butterfly …
Easter 2010
This year the kids decorated Eggs with Gammy and Othy and I don’t have any pictures… maybe Gammy does. I will have to ask. We did an easter egg hunt at church… unfortunately I forgot my camera and only have a couple poor quality cell phone images and then silly me I never got pictures …
Roman Gladiator Shield
Bug decided that he really wanted to make a Roman Gladiator Shield. I cut out cardboard rectangles for the kids. They then looked at images of roman shields and painted their shields. After the shields dried, we taped handle straps to the back of of the shields. Bug’s turned out awesome.
Wooden Ducklings
Here is our sweet little set of Wooden Ducklings to go along with our Book Nook – Have You Seen My Duckling? Just like the book, I made 1 Mama and 8 little ducklings. (Notice one curious duckling has gone off on his own!) I then made 2 clumps of reeds for a lovely backdrop or …
