Churros are tasty all by themselves, but many people love them drizzled or dipped in chocolate sauce. This chocolate sauce recipe can be all chocolate or add peanut butter for a different taste. This is also a perfect dip for fresh fruit or drizzled over ice cream.
Chocolate Sauce Recipe Ingredients – Makes 2 cups sauce
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter (optional)
- 3/4 cup heavy cream
- 2 teaspoons vanilla

Place the chocolate chips in a bowl the can be covered. A plate as a lid works just fine. If you are making peanut butter chocolate sauce, add the peanut butter to the chocolate chips and mix them together.
Heat the heavy cream and vanilla over medium heat until it begins to boil.
Immediately poor over the chocolate chips or chocolate chips and peanut butter. Poke a couple of times with a spoon to make sure the cream goes all the way down to the bottom of the bowl.
Cover and let stand for 5 minutes. It is easy to burn chocolate while melting. With this method it is impossible to burn the chocolate!
Mix the chocolate sauce. If all the chocolate is not melted after you mix, heat it in the microwave for 15 – 30 seconds.
Whisk the chocolate sauce and allow to cool to room temperature. Note: If you do not use it all, it can be covered and stored in the refrigerator for a week. When you remove from the fridge, it will be solid. Microwave for 15 second intervals, mixing after each 15 seconds, until mixture is just melted.
Serve with churros and dip or drizzle! If you have left overs, it is delicious drizzled over ice cream or use for dipping strawberries and bananas.
