Perils of the Pond

I watched the flight of a dragonfly,
As it flittered here and there,
Then it lit upon a lily pad,
Without a worry or care.
Be safe, my darling dragonfly,
For the pond can be quite scary
For a tasty little treat like you,
So please be very wary.
Fish and frogs and passing birds,
Would find it quite delightful,
To munch upon a dragonfly,
And I find that truly frightful!
So do take care, dear dragonfly,
As you take a little rest,
Then leave the pond with all due haste,
That surely would be best!
