The Shy Little Quail
by Kimara Wise
You often hear little quail,
Long before they’re seen,
They hide beneath the bushes,
Which makes a useful screen.
They lay their eggs in grasses,
The tree is not their home,
No wonder we don’t see them,
As they hunt, and nest, and roam.
But if by chance you wander,
Near their nests and they’re disturbed,
They’ll flutter from the ground,
Annoyed and quite perturbed.
I think quail are quite lovely,
With their plumes upon their heads,
But if you wish to see one,
You must find their grassy beds!
