Harvest Time Second EditionHarvest Time is a 12 week long, literature based, hands-on curriculum that has been designed to be used with 4-6 year old children as a gentle introduction to their school years. This seasonal based unit includes literature, social studies, art appreciation, crafts, and science. It is the first term of a 3 term schedule that focuses on the rhythm of the seasons with a special emphasis on holidays and nature. To complete your 36 week school year, you will also need Winter Wonderland (term two) and Spring Bs (term three). If you would like to continue your schooling year round, there is also an optional, shorter summer unit, Puddles and Ponds. Get ready to enjoy this year with your young student snuggling, reading, baking, and getting messy together.

Much Love

I have always felt drawn to homeschooling, my husband has always been strongly opposed. I was happy with the school we enrolled our daughter to start kindergarten in, then I found your curriculum. It's so pretty, and so inspiring! I felt in my heart that having my girl home is the best option, and sending her to a school is just felt wrong. In a turn of events I couldn't have seen coming my husband says he wants to try homeschooling... and here we are! Thank you for all you hard work, thank you for you generous gift of curriculum, thank you for this whole website, and thank you for having a hand in my family starting on a path that just feels right!

Much love,
Amanda

A Group of Alabama Homeschoolers

Just wanted to say thanks so much for sharing your time and talent! A group of Alabama homeschoolers have been inspired by the Harvest Time curriculum and we are having the BEST time enjoying field trips and fun! We're excited to dive into Winter Wonderland in January (we're currently only in week 5 of Harvest Time, got a late start). Thanks again and many blessings to you!

This is lovely!

This is lovely! The term is laid out so nicely - very basic and to the point (and with 4 children, to-the-point is exactly what I need!). I love that you have a variety of activities that can reach the gamut of interests, and it's not overwhelming at all - just enough! These are things that my 9 year old would enjoy doing alongside her 6, 4, & 1 year old siblings!

Fantastic Curriculum

I just wanted to add a quick thank you for your fantastic curriculum. We dabbled with the Harvest Time Curriculum in the fall and are jumping in to the Winter Wonderland. I have all the books and we started last week - so much fun! So sweet, so gentle and so inclusive. My 2 year old can participate while my 5 year old is learning everything she needs to learn. Thank you, thank you, thank you - I just can't thank you enough!!

Additional Books

Below is a list of alternative and additional books that go along with this unit. Use these books if you cannot find one of the scheduled stories or as an add-on to extend the unit. Some of these books were used in a previous edition of the unit and may be out of print. Others were books that we just didn’t have room to include in the schedule. Many of the books are titles that have been recommended to us by our readers. Note: we have not read all of the books listed below so please preview any book listed here before reading it with your child. If you have a book that you would like to recommend to our readers, please post the title and author in the comments and we will add it to the list. Thanks!

  1. This is more than a curriculum….these activities have become family traditions❤️…simple and lovely. My oldest is 11(5yrs of Harvest Time)..and cheered when I told him it was time for our yearly Butter Battle. We still make beeswax candles, napkins, and place mats. Tops and Bottoms every Fall. So many memories and more to come!

This is so lovely to hear and those traditions can continue for a lifetime. My children are grown and have their own families. When I see them do things with their children that we did together, it is beyond heartwarming. You can’t imagine how delighted we are to play even a small role in your family’s traditions! ((hugs)) ~Kimara~

  2. I am still very confused on how exactly this works. Is there any math tied into it? I am very interested but cannot seem to find a sample anywhere. If you could email me more info at kristinnn_03@yahoo.com I would appreciate it 🙂

    1. Hi Kristin, Thank you for your interest in our program. No, there is not a full math program included in the Simple Seasons units. We recommend some math games for basic concepts in preschool, but for a kindergarten program you will need to add in a separate math program. We do include an introduction to the alphabet and schedule an optional phonics program that uses “Explode the Code” workbooks. You can learn more about Simple Seasons by visiting this link… https://weefolkart.com/homeschool/how-to-use-simple-seasons/ . As for a sample, you can look over the original free program by visiting https://weefolkart.com/harvest-time-preschoolkindergarten-curriculum/ . We also have an active fan-run Facebook page. The members there share how they use the program on a day to day basis. You may want to join them to connect with other homeschooling families.

  3. I have two kids in this age range, would I need one book for each child? I don’t know if anything is actually fillable…I know the digital copy is included but I think one would be jealous if they were different. Thank you 🙂

      Hi Shanae,

How awesome that both of your girls will be starting the program this year. In answer to your question, no, you do not need to get 2 books. The activities and templates in the book are meant to be photocopied. We created the books as “flat opens” to make this easier.

If you use Facebook, there is a wonderful user lead site for families using the program. It is a closed group, so it is very private, but it is a wonderful, active community that do a wonderful job of supporting one another. They can often answer questions better than Michelle or I! Here is the site: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1042634892415362/ Simply request permission to join.

Wishing your family an incredible year of learning and family fun!

      Fondly,

      Kimara
